My Grandma Edna's Spiced Apple Butter

5 pounds tart apples- peeled, pared, cored and quartered about 12 cups
3 cups apple cider
2.5 cups sugar
1.5 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

In a large sauce pan combine apples and cider. Bring to boil over high heat then reduce heat cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Puree through a seine.
Add apples sugar and spices together and mix well.
Pour into a shallow 13 by 9 by 2 dish. Bake at 300 degrees for over two hours or until thick.
Put into hot clean half pint jars, adjust lids, place in boiling water for ten minutes.
Makes seven half pint jars.

Roger got it from cousin Bonnie. I posted it so it would never get lost. When we making up a huge batch? A pint jar would make great christmas gifts to those Pflug's that grew up eating this awesome stuff.
