Big zoning meeting regarding the healthy survival of one of only two Wild and scenic rivers in Florida.
I love having a beer at Wekiva Island and support their business, however, I do not support re-zoning of their lands to expand. Below is what I received from some of the members of "the friends of the Wekiva".

"The Wekiva Island zoning issue is not just about a business requesting a zoning change.
When the current owners purchased Wekiva Marina two years ago they new about the
restrictions on the property. A change in their zoning will set a precedent for other land
owners along the Wekiva River. The Wekiva River is one of only two rivers in Florida that
has a "Wild and Scenic" designation.

Wekiva Island is seeking a zoning change in order to expand what they are allowed to do.
Denial of the zoning change will not keep them from renting canoes and kayaks. If W.I.
becomes a full-fledged riverside resort, the Wekiva River will be adversely affected."
