So today in church just as the sermon was to begin it started raining, I mean a good solid heavy rain. I looked at both the boys and they smiled at me knowing what I was thinking. Before I could get up, Melissa grabbed my arm and said "no you can not go outside with the boys and play in the rain".

What a let down. The rest of the service all I could think about was "how can these people sit in this church when God is showing himself in a major way outside ?" That and why singing is considered worship but playing in God's creation isn't.

Then I was reminded of a paragraph my Dad wrote down for me when I was around 10 years old. It was a quote from Stephen Crane:

"Two or three angels came near to the earth. They saw a fat church. Little streams of people came and went continually. And the angels were puzzled to know why the people went thus,

and why they stayed so long within."

I don't know who Stephen Crane is or was, but today I agreed with him 100%.
