Paddled the swollen Econlockhatchee River today with some of the gang. The section between 419 and Snow Hill road was over the banks in a lot of places. This meant a river (swamp) up to a mile wide crashing through palmetto and scrub. It also meant paddling 6mph. without sweating. Saw an enormous amount of alligator, dead cat fish, immature bald eagles, and Great blue heron. The section between Snow Hill road and the St. Johns River was contained with in the banks and moving fast. Alligators were on every inside bank sunning themselves. About two miles before 46 the rain and lightning hit. Boy did it it hard. Thankfully we found elevated shelter and waited it out.

Gator of course wanted to go out and play in the storm. He settled on snacks and lemonade.

After 15 minutes of rain beating on a metal roof......Gator gave in and crashed hard.
