THINGS YOU WILL ONLY ENCOUNTER WHILE TRAVELING WITH GREG PFLUG

I'm out of here! I doubt I will have access to the net for a while.
I hate the first call into home when I've been out for any length of time. So please stay healthy, drive with care, and no drama when I'm off the map. If you have some time, put in a call to the family and don't forget Sunday night dinners.

You want me to send you the information about Alaska. Your blogg does not allow pasting! So here it is. I will tell you about some must see, must do things while you are there. Out of Anchorage on hwy 1 toward Seward the drive takes you along Cooks inlet. Great views of the inlet and mountains. Can see beluga and killer whales, mountain goats, bears, moose and Elk. Along the way you must stop in Girdwood (neat granola town) and go to Kobuk Valley Jade Co. The Native American art and jade is fantastic. Continue on to Seward. You will change to hwy 9, the road ends at Miller's landing. They run shuttles across Resurrection Bay to Kayakers cove. You can get a cabin and stay in isolation and kayak to different islands in the area. It is great.

On the way back up you may want to take hwy 1 to the south west, (this is at Glennallen) toward Chickaloon. (Kenai National wildlife Refuge). Along this road is a road side rock and fossil shop that sells Mastodon bones and the walrus usicks.

When you get back to Anchorage (there is the Alaskan brewer too – great stout and porter) and head for Talkeetna on Hwy 3. At the turn off to Talkeetna there is a dirt road in the opposite direction that goes to the Peters Hills. Try to go to "The Forks Roadhouse" built in the 1800s. From the Peters Hills you can hike (two/three days) to Dutch hills and into the back side of Denali. Glaciers and fantastic views of Denali. Talkeetna is great town (good eats) must go and see the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

Proceed north on Hwy 3 to Mount McKinley National Park. Take the 8-hour bus ride to wonder lake. Get an overnight pass. Try getting off of the bus at the Eielson visitors center and take a day (overnight) hike to Sunset Glacier. The moraines are beautiful and the closer you get to glacier it is look a different world (plants and rocks). It is vigorous hiking and I did encounter bears.

There is so much more but time? I hope that this helps. Call or email if you have questions.
